Coaching Philosophy

Here is my meaning of Ancaster 'Avalanche' which our team will use as our inspiration for the coming season.

ATTITUDE - Always have a positive Attitude.
VALUES - believe in yourself and your teammates.
ACCOUNTABILITY - accountable for your actions on and off the ice.
LOYALITY - Be loyal to your teammates and coaching staff, and yourself.
ACHIEVE - Your goals and don’t let anyone tell you different.
NEUTRAL - Zone transition, control and re - group to press forward.
CHARACTER - Help all teammates when needed and lead by example.
HEART - If you play with passion you will never lose.
EAGER - Have the desire to accomplish what you put your mind too.

My name is Scott Snow, I am currently a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and have served 27 years. I am very excited to be the Head Coach of the Bantam BB Team and look forward to being a part of the Avalanche Girls Hockey Club. The military has taught me how to be a teammate, respect others and work together to accomplish anything you put your mind to. I refer to a Hockey Team as a Platoon of soldiers going into battle. You train hard, practice hard and ensure you know your job on the ice with or with out the puck. This is the same for a soldier, you practice your individual skills and work on short comings to accomplish the end goal as a team going on the ice or a platoon going into battle.

I have played minor hockey my whole life up to Junior before joining the army and continued to play while serving all over Canada and abroad. I have coached Boys hockey from Pee Wee to Bantam in Western Canada for 7 Years but do to work circumstance had to put it aside for sometime until I returned back to Hamilton 5 Years ago. I decided to start coaching again at the Hamilton Hawks at the Peewee and Bantam Rep Levels.

The foundation of our Coaching Philosophy utilizes Hockey Canada’s Fair play Code for Coaches.
All coaches in Canada no matter girls or boys hockey and at all levels should use this philosophy as the basis of our heritage of Hockey. Our philosophy puts TEAM first - Together Everyone Achieves More. In order to build on a Team plan we will work with our players to set individual goals and objectives. Once individual goals are set we will discuss the TEAM goals and how their individual goals fit into this philosophy of Together Everyone Achieves More.
