U11BB Coaching Announcement: 2026-2027 Season
The Ancaster Avalanche welcome back Steve Green to our Association in 2026-2027 as the Head Coach of U11BB!
Steve is currently the Head Coach of U9 and is also an Assistant coach of U13A this season. Last year, Steve was an Assistant coach on both Avalanche U13B and U9B. With 3 children in hockey (Bombers & Avs) Steve has also been an assistant coach for Bombers hockey and involved in House League for many years for the Avs.
Coaching is a natural fit for Steve who played four years of McMaster Marauder football and who is also a High School Phys. Ed teacher, coaching many sports at Saltfleet High school. He grew up in the small town of Ennismore (outside of Peterborough), where he played hockey for 10 years.
Steve’s coaching philosophy is “keep the main thing, the main thing.” What’s the main thing? Having fun. In Steve’s words, “I believe in developing hockey players to learn the fundamentals of the game and encouraging creativity on the ice. My hope is that all players will develop a love for the game and a love for leading a healthy and active lifestyle while building lifelong friendships and learning the valuable lessons that are learned through playing team sports.”
Coach Green has shown immense dedication to the Avs program and he looks forward to a fun and successful 2026/2027 season. We look just as forward to having Steve return again to the Avs! Good luck to the U11BB team in 2026-2027!
