The Ancaster Avalanche Girls' Hockey Association (AAGHA) is indebted to its volunteers as it would be unable to function without them. From the Directors, to the coaches, bench staff, convenors, time keepers and parents, the AAGHA is a community of families brought together for the love of children and a game.

It is the intention that volunteers within our organization set an example of honesty, integrity, fairness and respect for all our young athletes. Volunteers are essential to our organization so please consider volunteering a little of your time. Please contact the Volunteer Director (link here) if you are interested in volunteer opportunities within the AAGHA.

On-Ice Requirements for Volunteers

Respect in Sport (formerly Speak Out), Police Checks

To participate in any on-ice capacity, all volunteers must fulfill certain requirements including completing an on-line Respect in Sport course (register for Respect in Sport at: https://owha.respectgroupinc.com/secure/), and by having a Police Background Check performed (please contact the AAGHA Registrar for a Letter of Introduction to present at the Police Station).

The onus is on the volunteer to complete Respect in Sport and Police Check before being permitted on the ice, behind the bench, or in the timekeeper / penalty box.  The AAGHA is not permitted to allow volunteers on the ice if their course is "in progress."  Volunteers are required to provide their Respect in Sports confirmation receipt and a copy of their Vulnerable Sector Police Check to the AAGHA Registrar and are required to submit their VSC to the OHF Online Submission Portal: https://ohf.on.ca/risk-management/vulnerable-sector-checks.

Please note that the association will reimburse the cost of the VSC for up to 6 people per team.
