TRYOUT 3 EXHIBITION GAME (May 3 @ 1:00 @FIRESTONE)

  • Will be an exhibition game against the Brantford Ice Cats

  • Players receiving an offer for a position on the team will also receive communication from myself and will have 24 hours to respond

Evaluations and What I am Looking For

  • TEAM PLAYER - “the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back”.

  • Skills - skating, puck control, passing, shooting, intensity

  • Work Ethic - works hard with consistent EFFORT, finishes drills completely, tries her best

  • COACHABILITY - listens attentively to instructions, responds positively to feedback, applies what has been taught to improve

  • Positions - I am looking for 9 forwards, 6 defense and 2 goalies

Commitment

  • Practices - 1 to 2 a week

  • Games - 1 to 2 a week

  • Tournaments - 4 to 5 (subject to change) with at least 1 being an away hotel tournament

  • Travel - depends on the teams in our loop. This will be communicated to parents as soon as I know.

  • During the season, the expectation is that players will regularly attend all practices and games. At the parent meeting, we will discuss this more in depth.

Proposed Budget

  • Rep Fees will be $2545.00 approximately (subject to change)

  • Does not include:

  • Team wear (eg. track suits) to be be purchased by families from Mak’s Source for Sports - we will go as a team for fittings (date TBD)

  • AAGHA fees of $675.00 (to be paid separately by parents)

  • Tournament accommodations/food/transportation - we will play in 4 to 5 tournaments

Coaching Philosophy

  • To develop a lifelong love of hockey. If they are still playing hockey when they are my age, mission accomplished.

  • To have FUN - the girls and their families will have opportunities to develop positive relationships with each other and the coaching staff. If your daughter is having fun, she is more likely to continue playing

  • To develop their skills (skating, puck control, shooting, etc), strategies and game sense in a competitive environment

  • To get the most out of each player while motivating and inspiring them to be the best they can be ON AND OFF the ice.

Team Rules

  • Treat teammates, coaches, trainers, team staff, families, etc. with RESPECT and KINDNESS

  • Attend practices and games regularly. If your daughter is going to be absent, COMMUNICATION IS KEY. I completely understand that important life events happen - just keep me informed.

  • Coaches expect that each player will take responsibility for their own conduct and represent Ancaster and the Ancaster Avalanche organization in an honourable way (more specific information is included in the Player Agreement to be signed once offered a position on the U18B Team).

  • Profanity and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated

  • No cell phones/image taking devices will be permitted in the dressing room

  • For the safety of all players, team staff will abide by the 2-deep rule in situations where the players are present.

  • Further information will be communicated at our Parent Meeting

Discipline Policy

  • Failure to abide by team rules will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and could include the following: verbal warning from coaches, verbal warning with player and parents, missed shifts/periods/games, suspension, released from the team.

  • It is important that our hockey team remains a top priority.

  • Specifically, missing games/practices without notice will require the player to attend, but not play the next game.

  • Players who repeatedly miss hockey sessions will face consequences each time which could ultimately result in removal from the team.

Proposed Fundraisers

  • TBD once we have established Sponsorship amounts

Summer Plan

  • Summer Conditioning - I strongly encourage all members of my team to participate in other (NOT hockey) sports/activities during the summer months.

  • We will meet throughout the off season for team building and off ice conditioning.

  • Practices and Exhibition games will be scheduled in late August/early September depending on ice availability
