Evaluations and What I am Looking For

Skills - skating, puck control, passing, shooting, intensity.

Work Ethic - works hard with consistent effort, finishes drills completely, tries her best.

Coachabilty - listens attentively to instructions, responds positively to feedback, applies what has been taught to improve.

Team player with a positive attitude.

Positions - I am looking for 9 forwards, 6 defense and 2 goalies.

Commitment

Practices - 1 to 2 a week.

Games - 1 to 2 a week.

Tournaments – 4-5 (subject to change) with at least 2 being an away hotel tournament.

Travel - depends on the teams in our loop. This will be communicated to parents as soon as I know.

During the season, the expectation is that players will regularly attend all practices and games. This team has to take priority over any other extracurricular activities! At the parent meeting, we will discuss this more in depth.

Proposed Budget

Rep Fees will be $2,015 approximately + AAGHA fees of $675 approximately.

We will work hard to earn sponsorship money to keep fees affordable.

Fees do not include:

· Team wear (eg. track suits, away jersey if needed) to be purchased by families from Mak’s Source for Sports - we will go as a team for fittings (date TBD).

· Tournament accommodations/food/transportation - we will play in 4-5 tournaments.

Coaching Philosophy

My goal is to have players that love coming to the rink today, and for years to come.

I believe in not only creating great players, but great people.

I will create meaningful practice plans to build on the already existing skill levels of my players.

I will treat each player with the same respect and will ask them to treat each other respectfully as well.

· I believe in equal ice time; however, I also hold the belief that during the initial 95% of a significant game, the players should predominantly dictate the course. In the crucial final 5%, it becomes the responsibility of the coaching staff to strategically deploy the players they deem capable of securing victory in tight contests.

· Powerplay and penalty kill units will be explored and may result in reduced ice for some players in meaningful games.

Team Rules

· Attend practices and games regularly. If your daughter is going to be absent, COMMUNICATION IS KEY. I completely understand that important life events happen - just keep me informed.

Coaches expect that each player will take responsibility for their own conduct and represent Ancaster and the AAGHA in an honorable way (more specific information is included in the Player Agreement to be signed once offered a position on the U15B Team).

Profanity, bullying and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

No cell phones/image taking devices/or headphones will be permitted in the dressing room.

For the safety of all players, team staff will abide by the 2-deep rule in situations where the players are present.

Further information will be communicated at our Parent Meeting.

Discipline Policy

Failure to abide by team rules will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and could include the following: verbal warning from coaches, verbal warning with player and parents, missed shifts/periods/games, released from the team.

Specifically, missing games/practices without notice will require the player to attend, but may not play the next game.

Players who repeatedly miss hockey sessions will face consequences each time which could ultimately result in removal from the team.

Proposed Fundraisers

TBD once we have established Sponsorship amounts

Summer Plan

Summer Conditioning - I strongly encourage all members of my team to participate in sports/activities during the summer months.

We will try and be on the ice occasionally in May and June, but keep July and some of August for downtime. Regular skates will resume the 3rd week of August to prepare for the season.

We will meet occasionally throughout the off season for team building and off ice conditioning.

Options will also be available to complete at home workouts

Exhibition games will be scheduled in late August/early September depending on ice availability
