January 29th - COVID Updates

Hello Hockey Families!

We are so excited that we are able to return to hockey on January 31st! Our AMAZING ice scheduler has been very busy working on rescheduling games and practices for teams. Please continue to check the AAGHA website for your team schedule as things may still shift.

We met with City of Hamilton staff today to go over protocols. A few things to be aware of as we return to the ice:
  1. Proof of vaccination is required on entry for all players and spectators 12 and up. It MUST be in the form of the QR code. If you do not yet have the QR code you can download it here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/. Note that 2010 children have a grace period of 84 days to receive full vaccination status which is the end of March.
  1. Screening for symptoms should continue to take place at home before attending any hockey event. Please do not attend if ill. You can use the Ontario School Screener to help guide your decision making. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/vaccinated
  2. Masks are required at all times in the facility with the only exception being players and coaches during on ice activities. This includes in the dressing rooms.
  3. Please arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ice time and please leave within 30 minutes.
  4. The Mohawk Quad Pad has a limit of one parent/guardian per player.
  5. All other facilities have a capacity limit of 50% or 500, whichever is smaller. Please note that while there is not specific limit to the number of spectators per player at most facilities, we kindly request that you consider the size of the facility prior to inviting additional family members. For example, Spring Valley is a smaller arena and may be required to turn people away if many families bring multiple family members.
  6. Please limit the number of people in the dressing room as much as possible to players and 2-3 parent helpers.
  7. Medical exemptions to the vaccine requirement are only accepted in the form of the valid QR code documentation.
  8. If a player tests positive for Covid 19 or is suspected of having Covid 19, please report this to the association Covid Team at covid@ancastergirlshockey.ca if you are comfortable doing so. While there is not specific contact tracing required by public health, as an organization we would like to support all families in making decisions to keep themselves safe and healthy and this requires collaboration and communication within our AAHGA community.
  9. Finally, please be patient with arena staff as they manage the new vaccination screening and capacity limits. Our collective goal is to keep things running smoothly so that we can keep our players on the ice!
See you at the rink!
