The Ancaster Avalanche Girl's Hockey Association (AAGHA) is indebted to its volunteers as it would be unable to function without them. From the Executive, to the coaches, conveners, time keepers and parents, AAGHA is a community of families brought together for the love of children and a game.
Volunteers are essential to the organisation so please consider volunteering a little of your time and join the many before you who have gained so much from the experience. To find out more about how, please contact the AAGHA President or Vice-President.
On-Ice Requirements - for Volunteers
Respect in Sport (formerly Speak Out), Police Checks
To participate in any on-ice capacity, all volunteers must fulfill certain requirements including completing an on-line Respect in Sport course (formerly Speak Out) - register for Respect in Sport at: https://owha.respectgroupinc.com/secure/, - and by having a Police Background Check performed (you require an introduction letter from the AAGHA Registrar that you must present to the Police Headquarters). The onus is on the volunteer to complete the on-line course before being permitted on the ice, behind the bench, or in the timekeeper / penalty box. The AAGHA is not permitted to allow volunteers on the ice if their course is "in progress." Volunteers are required to provide their Respect in Sports confirmation receipt and a copy of their Police Check to the AAGHA Registrar. Please see Police Check page of this website for further information.
AAGHA provides access to on-going accredited coaching and trainer clinics. Attending one or more of these clinics is necessary for volunteers to participate in running the various teams in our Association. These clinics are provided to AAGHA volunteers at no cost (provided that the clinic is approved by the OWHA and AAGHA). Any volunteer who fails to attend a clinic for which they have signed up without just cause may not be subsidized by the AAGHA in the future.
To obtain further information on clinics, please contact the AAGHA Registrar at: firstname.lastname@example.org
