Coach Bio

I have been involved in sport since a very young age.  As a youth, I played hockey, baseball, football, and rugby at rep levels throughout my school years.  As an adult I continued to coach rugby, and as a parent I have been involved with all three of my children's sports since they were young.  I have been an on ice/field helper, assistant coach, trainer, and goalie coach with my children's teams over the last 12 years.  I have been involved with hockey, baseball, and soccer teams in that time.

When it comes to hockey, I have been a volunteer helper, coach, or trainer, in both the Girls Hockey Association and the Boys Hockey Associations for many years. During those years, I was able to glean a large of amount of very effective coaching techniques and tools, as well as learn what areas might not be as effective from a coaching standpoint.  We will implement tools that I have learned to help foster an enjoyable, successful, and meaningful experience for our young players.  I believe that in competitive sport, winning is important, and a winning season will enhance our player's love of the game.  But winning should not come at the expense of our children's experience.  While paving a path to a winning season, it is important to learn the values of team sport and dependence on one another;  to help reinforce the value of team cohesion and working together to achieve your best possible outcome.  I strive to make sure every player will learn and grow from their experience on our team.  I want all players to continue to play all sports for many years to come and look back on these years with amazing memories that they will carry forward.

We will focus on skill development and fun.  I believe that is the combination to a great season for our young athletes.  If we all get better and enjoy the ride, I will consider it a very successful season.  Our goal is to reinforce the values of hard work, empathy, communication, respect, commitment, and collaboration.
